Latvijas spēkavīrs Aivars Šmaukstelis nedēļas nogalē ASV izcīnīja desmito vietu spēkavīru sacensībās “World’s Strongest Man”.
Sešās disciplīnās desmit spēkavīru finālā Šmaukstelis ieguva 12,5 punktus.
Par uzvarētāju ar 53 punktiem kļuva britu sportists Toms Stoltmens, 47,5 punktus sakrāja kanādietis Mičels Hupers, trešais ar 36 punktiem bija mājinieks Evans Singltons, bet ceturtais ar 35,5 punktiem – jaunzēlandietis Metjū Regs.
Sacensībās piedalījās 30 spēkavīri no Latvijas, ASV, Lielbritānijas, Jaunzēlandes, Austrālijas, Kanādas, Polijas, Čehijas, Meksikas, Itālijas, Īrijas, Ukrainas, Igaunijas, Ganas un DĀR.
Pirms tam kvalifikācijas sacensībās Šmaukstelis piecās disciplīnās sakrāja 20 punktus, ieņemot otro vietu sešu sportistu konkurencē un piekāpjoties vien Regam, kurš sakrāja par trim punktiem vairāk, bet par trim punktiem apsteidzot tuvāko sekotāju mājinieku Tomasu Evansu.
